Designer's Network Events

The Designer's Network is a forum to educate, to listen, and to be heard….but mostly just to connect. It provides designers the opportunity to meet, share their stories and their situations together, as peers, not as competitors. The meetings will be 50% educational and 50% social, featuring speakers and topics chosen specifically for designers. The quarterly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at 5:00 pm at the Denver Design District and are complimentary.

We invite all members of the trade to join our Designer's Network events. To be placed on the Designer's Network electronic invitation list, please email the following information to Sarah at sarahc@denverdesign.com.

Marina Dagenais is the coordinator for Designer Network. If you have comments or suggestions for future events, we invite you to contact Marina at 303-282-3226 or marina@denverdesign.com

Interior Transformations for Space and Psyche

Guest Speaker: Lorell Frysh Ph.D. Transpersonal Psychologist/Interior Designer
Date: Tuesday November 18, 2008
Time: 5-7pm
Where: Carter Didlake, Inc. Showroom

We are all aware of how we feel when we walk from the chaos and busyness of everyday life into a space that is quiet and gently calming; when we walk into a space that shifts us simply by being in it. Think of particular churches, or perhaps a time when you were desperate for a massage, and entered the wonderful calm of a beautiful spa, and simply by walking through the door, you already felt relaxed. Think of a gentle walk in a beautiful garden.

What is exactly is the mystery that enables such profound shifts? Is it the colors? The balance of positive and negative space? The Feng Shui? And what exactly is happening with the Feng Shui? What really creates the invitation into the profound mystery that happens when we enter spaces that genuinely shift our consciousness? How can we, as aware designers, truly affect people’s reality by the way we shape their environments?

This lecture will explore some of those elements that create and enable powerful shifts of consciousness. We will briefly examine the mystical and spiritual philosophies that underscore Eastern and Western design practices such as sacred geometry, the psychological and spiritual vibrations of color, and major tenants of conscious design.
